Practice Notice

After 7.5 years of living and practicing abroad, I will be leaving Hong Kong and heading back home to Toronto this June.

Look out for more Toronto news coming soon. If you want to visit me in Toronto, you can drop me your contact details and I will let you know where and when you can book a visit.

Hong Kong been a great experience for me. I came here newly married with @tracybluestein . Little to no social or business network definitely was a growing phase.

In terms of personal growth I learned to work together with my partner and try and listen more. We also now have 2 amazing kids. I also was able to find a BJJ family with @rodrigocaporal and @g0rillabjj and team there. Made life long friendships learned a little too haha. I dabbled in other sports with my first love of basketball and also ultimate. Hiking and camping is amazing, I suggest you try it here. Also studied cantonese.

Professionally I eventually linked up with @jointdynamics. The physiotherapists, coaches and variety of clinicians, were a great source of growth and really helped me thrive as a clinician. Shout out to the fifth floor. To my patients/clients in Hong Kong and abroad thanks for your support.

I then became an on-site specialist for a bank, JP Morgan. Random in terms of of how Chiropractors go as its not a sports team. The HR and the Wellness Program there is top notch. There’s a reason why you haven’t seen many clinical posts as we have strict social media guidelines 😂 .

I was also able to visit different cities Asia and Australia with #functionalrangesystems and met some great clinicians and coaches.

Watch this space I learn to navigate Toronto with my family and continue forging elite joints.

For those of you in Hong Kong, I am currently referring my existing client base and any new patients to:

Shoulder Pain

Do you have shoulder pain?

Check out the videos below on my clients’ progress. Living with shoulder stiffness and pain can be difficult. You have options to help decrease your shoulder pain.

What are my options for shoulder pain?

There are both invasive and non-invasive options. My client opted for surgical intervention first. This option was chosen based on thorough research, clinical case history and patient values. He then put in the work after surgery with a team of physiotherapists, Chiropractor and trainers to get him to this point.

If you are having problems, the best thing to do is get an assessment to see what is best for your case and is in line with your values.

Joint Capsule

What is a Joint Capsule?

The joint capsule is the deepest tissue that makes up your joint (elbow, shoulder, spine etc.). The majority of joints in the body contain joint capsules. The joint capsule keeps all the fluids inside the joint itself.

Why is the Joint capsule important?

The most import thing is that the joint capsule contains a lot of innervation (nerve stuff). This means that it received information FIRST. If your joint capsule is not receiving information properly, this can lead to problems with movement, stiffness and even pain. You can have your joint capsules assessed to see if your joints are functioning at their best.

Have your healthcare practitioner assess your joint capsules to see how healthy your joints are.

Post Surgery

Have you had surgery?

The scar and the tissues affected with surgery can be a source of pain and movement problems. The most important reason of treating areas of scarring is to help reduce your pain and improve rage of motion post surgery.

Have you spoken to your surgeon about aftercare?

The best thing to do after surgery is to ask your surgeon what you can do after the stitches are removed to improve surgical outcomes.

Strength training

Strength training : for Life AND Sport

Strength training for your joint health is important. Having healthy joints will allow you to #DOanything. Whether its to play a sport or spend time with your family, a mobility and strength, program will help you to achieve that. Involving a clinician AND strength coach will help you transition you off treatment table.

What is strength training?

Typically, my practice starts by having the joints functioning at a normal level. Once this is achieved, we can begin strength training, to your muscles, tendons and ligaments. This can involve using both internal and external loading. Internal loading can be done by teaching you how to irritate your own musculature within a range of motion. External loading involves adding a band, dumbbell or your OWN body weight. Both of these types will teach your nervous system to control your joints while simultaneously increasing tissue capacity.

Does your health care team involve a strength coach?

If the answer is no, its simple to ask for one. Talk with your general practitioner, Physiotherapist or Chiropractor. They should be able to recommend one who can help you achieve your goals. In my practice, we typically involve one as soon as possible. As you become less dependent on a clinician, its best you have the skills to improve the strength of your joints. A coach will be able to gradually increase your training so that your joints become strong and resilient.

Feel free to ask me to recommend one.
