Chiropractic Therapy
Chiropractic must be peformed by registered doctors in Hong Kong (http://www.chiro-council.org.hk/). Chiropractic is a form of complementary alternative medicine that focuses on preventative care for neuro-musculosketal issues. Although Chiropractic is considered an ‘alternative’ medicine, it is now mainstream. Many individuals turn to Chiropractors for holistic and manual type techniques. Chiropractors treat patients with natural methods and focuses on facilitating your body’s natural ability to heal itself through spinal adjustments, myofascial release, corrective exercise and movement optimization. Chiropractic therapy is a non-surgical, non-invasive manual therapy for muscle, nerve and joint conditions. Chiropractors can diagnose, prescribe advanced imaging, treat and educate their patients on their nerve-muscle-bone issues.
Healthcare without Drugs/Surgery
As a Chiropractor, I act as a conservative care specialist. Chiropractors do not use pharmaceutical interventions or perform surgeries. If or when a patient is in a lot of pain and through our clinical judgement, if a patient requires to see a general practitioner or specialist, we will not hesitate to refer them.
Chiropractic is Preventative
The main focus of chiropractic care is through PREVENTION of common body issues/condition by focusing on your nerves, muscles and joints through safe and controlled evaluation and treatment. As Chiropractor, I focus on the creation and maintenance healthy of joints.
Chiropractic and Spine
Chiropractic care mainly focuses on your Spine. Your spine houses nerves (spinal cord) that sends signals from your brain to your body to allow proper functions to take place. These nerves sends signals to your brain about pain and sensation, it also controls your muscles but most importantly it also controls all of your bodily organ functions. Any misalignments of the spine and other joints can cause dysfunction within your body. When dysfunctions occur – short term (acute syndromes) may cause discomfort and pain, if the problem is unattended to it can lead to long term issues. Sometimes dysfunctions can arise in the absence of pain. Through specific motion palpation, selective functional screening and movement testing, a clinician can determine if you’re likely to develop a spinal disorder.
Chiropractic and Sports
Chiropractors, like myself, also focus on the treatment and prevention of sports injuries. Those who participate in all levels of sport will may or may not experience pain. Although no pain is present, a dysfunction may still be present. Pain is usually the last symptom that appears.
Pain is a sign that your body has had enough with the abnormal function.Through an initial assessment, a detailed history of current and past injuries will be taken. A movement-based assessment will also be completed. Once movement dysfunction and the cause is determined, a detailed, customized plan of how to correct this is discussed with the patient.
Sport and Spine Health treatment by a Chiropractor involves both an passive component (doctor’s role) and active role (Patient’s role). As a Chiropractor, I provide athletes and the general public with the tools to help screen for problems and heal themselves.
Chiropractors are part of almost every major sports team’s medical and rehabilitation team.
